Pet Care Info
We have been informed that HomeSafeID has been operating with limited functionality for about three months and is no longer registered as a Microchip registry in Victoria. You can find more information here https://agriculture.vic.gov.au/livestock-and-animals/animal-welfare-victoria/domestic-animals-act/registration-legislation-and-permits/microchipping-of-dogs-cats-and-horses/domestic-animal-microchip-registries.
Although the website https://www.homesafeid.com/ is still functional, it’s headline reads:-
5 Feb 2025: The owner of this site, HomeSafeID, is no longer communicating or paying for the hosting of this site, and so this site is likely to go offline in the future. You may want to investigate alternatives to your pet’s registration, as once this site goes offline the registration data will no longer be available online or searchable via PetAddress.
Please note that HomeSafeID no longer provides telephone recovery. If / when the website goes off line, there will be no easy way for your pet to be identified via its microchip if, for example, it becomes lost. HomeSafeID’s data is stored by the Victorian Government, and may be transferred to another of the licensed registries, but it is unclear if or when this will occur.
You may prefer to list your animal microchip number, description and your contact details with an alternate registry. We can assist you with this for a total cost of $37.50. This cost includes lifetime registration on the largest national database, Central Animal Records. You will need to attend in person as the new Microchip Registration form needs to be signed by you or your representative. This is also an opportunity to ensure that all your contact details are current, so we can register accurate details with the Registry.
Although we have your pet’s microchip number and your details on file, you may prefer to take this opportunity for us to scan your pet’s microchip to confirm if it is still functional. Note the failure rate over an animal’s lifetime is ~ 1 in 10,000.
A visit to update your pet’s microchip registry can be combined with a health check or other consultation, in which case an appointment is required. An appointment is NOT required should you just visit to update the microchip registry.
We look forward to helping you protect your pet.
Kind Regards,
Reception
